At the invitation of President Xi Jinping, French President Emmanuel Macron paid a state visit to China from April 5th to 7th to further deepen the economic and trade cooperation between France and China. As a typical practitioner of the “Originated from France and Deeply Cultivated in China” strategy, the innovative development of Adisseo in recent years has attracted the attention of Chinese mainstream media. In this regard, China Daily interviewed Jean-Marc Dublanc, CEO of Adisseo, and featured excellent practices of enriching products and expanding production capacity to meet the dietary habits of Chinese people.

Dietary habits in China are changing with the country’s economic growth. Food consumption is rising, and the types of foods purchased are diversifying. Palates are becoming more sophisticated, and there is greater demand for convenience.

That has dramatically transformed the animal feed industry in China. As a core subsidiary and the only company focusing on animal nutrition in Sinochem Holdings’s life sciences segment, Adisseo sees China as the largest market in the world for its products. Its plant in Chongqing, which is expected to be put into operation this year, is designed with an annual production capacity of 20,000 tons. The products will be used in fish farming, allowing farmers to replace fishmeal and soy with a high-quality ingredient that requires no arable land and no plant matter. To further enhance its product range and support development, Adisseo is building a new specialty formulation plant in Nanjing capable of producing 37,000 tons of feed additives annually, enabling the customization of products to meet specific Chinese industry requirements while remaining cost-effective.

With the official launch of the 180KT liquid methionine plant (BANC2 project), Adisseo’s Nanjing plant is currently able to produce 350,000 tons of liquid methionine a year for both Chinese and global markets. About half of its production will be exported this year, including to markets involved in the Belt and Road Initiative, such as Thailand, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye.

“Adisseo’s ultimate goal in this development area is to improve the quality, sustainability and security of the food and animal protein supply in China,” said Jean-Marc Dublanc in the interview.
