Elkem has signed agreements with Vattenfall and TrønderEnergi Kraft for delivery of electricity in Norway for the years 2020 – 2026. The agreements include delivery of approximately 525 GWh per year, totalling 3.7 TWh for the entire contract period.
Elkem annually utilises approximately 3.7 TWh of electricity for production of silicon, ferrosilicon and foundry products. Close to all Elkem’s electricity consumption in Norway comes from renewable energy sources.
“We are very pleased with the long-term agreements we have signed. Both agreements ensure us competitive prices and predictability. Elkem continuously works towards reducing our environmental and climate impact, therefore we are pleased to have entered into agreements with leading power companies within renewable energy”, says Morten Viga, Group CFO of Elkem ASA.
