Hazardous Chemicals Testing Lab, established by Guangzhou Institute for the evaluation, testing and identification of hazardous chemicals in 9 categories, has been fully accredited by China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment (CNAS) and approved as National Accredited Laboratory by Certification and Accreditation Administration of the People’s Republic of China (CMA). On Dec. 1, Regulations on Safety Management of Hazardous Chemicals newly issued by the State Council came into effect, proving that the Testing Lab couldn’t have been founded at a better time.
According to Guangzhou’s Plan for Developing Modern Service Industry for the Year 2009, “future efforts will focus on constructing Nansha International Logistics Park, Guangzhou Airport International Logistics Park and Huangpu International Logistics Park so as to advance the building of Asia-Pacific transit center from Federal Express Corporation.” Since all chemicals must undergo a test on their hazard degrees as a procedure of the logistics service and none of the testing institutes in South China was able to provide a complete testing service in accordance with the requirement of identifying hazardous chemicals in all 9 categories, Guangzhou Institute—a third-party testing institute—decided to invest in a Hazardous Chemicals Testing Laboratory after a profound market research. The institute, completed in 2010 and now qualified to test 9 categories of hazardous chemicals—explosives, compressed gases, liquefied gases, inflammable liquids, inflammable solids, spontaneously inflammable materials, inflammable materials in damp conditions, oxidizers, organic peroxides, poisons and corrosives, has been the only one in South China to provide complete services in testing hazardous chemicals. In 2011, this testing service grew by 40 percent over the same period last year, providing a new and promising growth point for the institute.
