The ceremony to celebrate the completion of the fumed silica capacity expansion project was held in Xinghuo Industrial Park in Jiujiang, Jiangxi province on April 19. The Cabot BlueStar Chemical (Jiangxi) Co Ltd, a joint venture by the head office and Cabot Corporation in the United States took charge of the project.

The Cabot Corporation, a leader in the global chemical sector, is the long-term strategic partner of the head office. The joint venture launched operations in April 2006 with annual output of 4,600 tons. It was the first fumed silica project in the country meeting international advanced standards that created economic benefits and provided customers with high-performance products. It also realized optimized resource allocations and created a circular economy to fulfill its corporate social responsibilities, as well as enhancing resources conservation and environmental protection.

The project founded by Cabot and BlueStar will kick off in September 2010 with a total investment of $43 million. Annual output could reach 15,000 tons that would make it the largest and most technologically advanced fumed silica production base in the world when completed.
