Recently, the case of “Conservation and Utilization of the Former Site of Xinghuo Plant” by Xinghuo Group was jointly selected as a typical case of China’s National Industrial Heritage Conservation and Utilization after rounds of screening and rigorous evaluation during the theme event “Imprints of the Republic – Industrial Light Shines on China,” hosted by the National Cultural Heritage Administration and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Among the 77 selected cases nationwide, only two are from Jiangxi Province. This honor not only signifies Xinghuo Group’s commendable practices in industrial heritage conservation and utilization but also highlights the efforts and achievements of Bluestar Company in establishing mechanisms for cultural inheritance and sustainable development.
The selection was based on multiple dimensions, including the significant association of the industrial heritage with major events in the history of the industrial spirit, resource availability, the effectiveness of conservation and utilization, innovation, and breakthroughs. Xinghuo Plant, established in the 1960s in Jiangshang Township and Sanxiqiao Town, Yongxiu County, Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province, played a crucial role in the advancement of China’s modern chemical industry and is known as the “Cradle of National Silicones.” Notably, the former site of Xinghuo Plant has been honored with the distinction of being included in the fourth batch of National Industrial Heritage sites and in the inaugural batch of Corporate Culture Education Bases by Sinochem Holdings.
To thoroughly study and implement Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, Xinghuo Group has embarked on a mission to cultivate a corporate culture that revolves around the “spirit and vitality” emblematic of Sinochem Holdings in this new epoch. Leveraging the distinctive attributes of Bluestar Company and Xinghuo Group—their rich tradition and international outlook - the Group aims to ignite the engine of development through cultural empowerment and foster a vibrant environment. Under the strategic guidance of Sinochem Holdings and with the support of Bluestar Company, Xinghuo Group initiated the conservation and utilization project of the former Xinghuo Plant site in March 2024. This project marks the establishment of the Sinochem Holdings Corporate Culture Education Base.
Adhering to the principle of “conservation first, reasonable utilization,” the base preserves the original architectural style dating back to 1968, while restoring and showcasing the site to uphold its historical authenticity. Simultaneously, a strong emphasis is placed on revitalization and activation. Leveraging the resources of the former site, the base innovatively introduces an educational model comprising “one route, two points, one hall, and three lectures.” This includes a visiting route through the old plant site, a significant location for revisiting the initial aspiration, and a spiritual landmark checkpoint; a historical exhibition hall dedicated to the base; and three on-site micro-party lectures focused on the “spirit and vitality” of Sinochem Holdings in the modern era.
The objective is to establish a central hub and communication platform that vividly showcases the corporate culture of Sinochem Holdings, presenting the company’s historical development trajectory in a tangible manner. This allows visitors to immerse themselves in the nostalgic era of industrial manufacturing and the youthful memories of a generation of chemical revolutionaries, while further perpetuating and promoting the “spirit and vitality” of Sinochem Holdings in the new era.
Through diverse avenues such as employee training programs, and youth lecture troupes, the base consistently fosters a strong sense of identity among Chinese employees of overseas enterprises’ China branches. Furthermore, the base promotes the seamless integration and execution of corporate culture development, and the recollection of entrepreneurial history through collaborative group endeavors. By doing so, it ignites the spirit and unleashes the driving force of progress with shared values.
Furthermore, employees enthusiastically engage in base conservation initiatives, undertaking independent maintenance tasks and repurposing old materials. They have crafted an impressive “Spark Spreads” torch sculpture and vintage basketball hoops using discarded towers, kettles, and pipelines. These endeavors not only uphold the entrepreneurial spirit and reduce construction expenses but also serve as vivid carriers of corporate culture, fully showcasing the diligent and innovative spirit of Sinochem Holdings’ employees.
The entire conservation and construction process of the base seamlessly integrates the plant’s heritage with the corporate culture system, achieving innovation in preservation and continuity. Through various measures, it stimulates a sense of shared purpose and momentum, fully embodying the pivotal role of nurturing the heart, forging the soul, and uniting strength. This, in turn, coalesces into a formidable spiritual force for building a world-class integrated chemical enterprise.
